Do not go see this movie. It is bad on an epic scale. It is simply 2 hours that you will never get back, never be able to do something useful with.
It's bad.

Dear people living in the apartment building behind mine,
Please don't put things that are on fire into the dumpster near my building.
Thanks,
Scott.

So last night I ran out to the Best Buy to pick up some DVD's. I was all set to pick up Band of Brothers, because everyone says that it is just great. But what is sitting on the shelf under it? The My So Called Life DVD set. Gah! I don't have enough to get both, so I am at a impass. I wandered around the store for about 45 minutes trying to decide, but finally decided to not get either.

Ok, so first we have sweeping wiretap powers, and now we have massive government databases of consumer purchasing habits. My favorite quote from the second story, "John [Poindexter] has a real passion for this project".
I quote, "When it's ready, Aldridge said individual privacy rights will be protected. But he could not explain how the data would be accessed. In some cases, specific warrants would give law enforcement agencies access, he said. But in other cases the database might flag suspicious activity absent a specific request or warrant, and that suspicious activity could well be relayed to law enforcement or intelligence agencies." Full time, automated domestic intelligance gathering and terrorist spotting. What fun!

SHIT
I bought NHL 2000 for my dreamcast ( $5, can't pass that up ), and with 6 games left in a season, I accidentally saved over it. 6 games left out of an 82 game seaon, and the Detroit Red Wings were 70 wins, 6 losses. Dammit.

This could only be a happy story if it, say, never happened. Ever.

"President Bush, right, said Steve Yzerman and the Wings looked like the United Nations."
"Shortly there after, Yzerman beat the living tar out of him."
"Yzerman and the President were given 5 minutes for fighting."

BMG (Bertelsmann Music Group) to world:
All your CD are belong to us

All this buzz about Copy Protecting CD's seems a bit odd to me, because there is nothing to stop me from running a cable from the audio out of my cd-player to the audio-in on my soundcard and encoding the resulting stream to mp3's. Of course I will have to do this soon, because I encode all my CD's to MP3 so I cal listen to them on my computer and also cram 165 songs onto a cd to play in my Rio Volt player. This, obviously, makes me a filthy pirate.

Talking with Josh yesterday about stuff, and he mentioned going back to school to get his masters in Economics. Of course this makes me think of going back to school also. But I don't know for what, really. I don't know if I want to do straight Computer Science, or maybe a hard schience like chemistry with a CS minor or maybe something totally different like English. I really don't know what I want to do when I grow up, and I really am a bit old to not be knowing. At this rate, getting even an undergraduate degree by the time I am 35 seems impossible. Of course, on top of all of this is the burdens of being old (i.e. bills) and how to do all this while keeping a full time job without going insane (more insane?). Hard thinking ahead this weekend.

I hate the phone company. I lose dial tone on friday evening. Run out to buy a phone to make sure the tone is gone. No tone. Called in a ticket and the automated system says it will be fixed by Saturday at 7pm. Well that didn't happen, so today I go down to fry's and buy an 802.11b wireless card. So here I am at the coffee shop (which has free wireless access) blogging, rather then at home, working like I should be.
