NewsMonster RSS Aggregator [popup image 104k]
Found a new toy, and finally was able to get it installed. I think the best thing about this aggregator is that it lives inside Mozilla, so I have the one app open, without having to jump around.

Well, it looks like I might have an opeing in my Grand Canyon trek in a couple of weeks. One of the participants has some prior family stuff to take care of ( pretty important stuff, I must admit ). If there is anyone in who wants to take this spot, let me know. I am not positive about the availability of the spot, so don't buy any expensive airline tickets. If you are in AZ, and can either meet is in/around Phoenix or up at the GC, let me know.

I picked up the DVD 'Chicago' this weekend and watched it about a dozen times ( have I ever mentioned how I love musicals? ), so now I have all the songs stuck in my head. Do you know how hard it is to code while singing 'All That Jazz'?

Yeah! The AM/PM down the block from me has regular AND midgrade unleaded, and at a price less then I paid for regular on friday ($2.29 a gallon). I paid that much because I was at a half tank in a pontiac, which means I have about 1.5 gallons left. I would have come home and tried, but I figured I should get gas when I can. My prediction is we will be back to regular in about a month. Based on some quick math about how much the pipeline pumped and the fact that phoenix needs something like 6 tankers a day to provide regular our regular supply. Remember, keep those trips short. I need gas to get to the Grand Canyon in a couple of weeks :)

Well, the gasoline madness continues today. One station has gas around here, and 20 cars lined down the street waiting to get in. I believe that I have enough gas to get me through the week, then I will have to sit in line like everyone else. Fun!
Plus, they are out of locking gas-caps (surprise) and syphons (super-surprise) at the Checker.

Crazy car line [236k]
There are about 20 cars lined up here to get into the Am/Pm for gas. According to the attendant, it's been like this since 1pm. I took this picture about 9:30pm.
Update: 1:30am
I was up so I walked back down to the gas station. They ran out about an hour and a half ago. In less then 12 hours, they emptied a gas station. These people are like locusts.

Caffeine Quarterly T-shirt
"Caffeine is my shepherd; I shall not doze. It maketh me to wake in green pastures; it leadeth me beyond the sleeping masses. It restoreth my buzz it leadeth me in the paths of consciousness for its name's sake. Yea, though I walk in the valley of the shadow of addiction, I shall fear no Equal(tm): for thou art with me; thy cream and thy sugar, they comfort me. Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of Juan Valdez; thou annointeth my day with pep; my cup runneth over. Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of Maxwell forever."

'It's late and I'm kinda parched', he thought.
'I'll run down to the gas station and get a cold beverage', he thought.
'I'm tired, so I'll just drive down there', he thought.
'I'll have a gatorade', he thought at the gas station.
'...', the car said at the gas station.

Can someone explain to me why backpacking rain shells are so damned expensive? The ones I have read reviews on run from $200-$350. It's a rain slicker for crying out loud. I was going to buy one, but I think I'll just get one from Target or something.
I am getting a bit excited since there are only 3.5 weeks until my trip to the Grand Canyon. Should be fun, and my goal is to do at least one weekend trip a month. Kinda like the national guard. One weekend a month, and at least one week long trip a year. There are hikes I want to do in Yosemite, Yellowstone, Alaska, and a bunch around here.
