Pretty Girls Make Graves - The New Romance [cdnow.com/amazon.com]
Awsome cd I picked up today at Zia's while looking for Marshall Chapman and Rachel's, which they didn't have. MP3's up soon.
Something Bigger, Something Brighter [4.8MB]
Blue Lights [2.9MB]

As a result of making mix cds for people lately, I wrote a couple of perl scripts to build and manage a dbm containing all the pertinant info from the ID3 tags. The result of this is realizing that 1155 of them had relativly good ID3 info, and 169 had none. Also, looking at a list, I am beginning to realize just how many of my CDs I haven't gotten around to ripping yet.

Ashcroft: War Justified Even Without WMD [yahoo.com]
VIENNA, Austria - Even if weapons of mass destruction are never found in Iraq, the U.S.-led war was justified because it eliminated the threat that Saddam Hussein might again resort to "evil chemistry and evil biology," Attorney General John Ashcroft said Monday.
I wanted to major in evil chemistry in college, but they only had a kinda-naughty chemistry program.

So I finally went to see 'Lost in Translation' this weekend. Even though I was prepared to not like the movie, given the director's previous debacle, I just couldn't help myself. It's just so damned good. The story and the actors, especially the actors, were so good. Bill Murray just won a Golden Globe for best actor - drama, and it is so deserved. My only problem is that some people in the audience were horrible. Laughing out loud at some scenes, which while funny, didn't seem to be meant to be funny in that way. The should have been funny in a scary, melancholy way. It's really good, and if you haven't seen it by now, well shame on you.
Oh, and Scarlet Johansson is a total babe, even if she is only 19.
Update: Bill Murray won for Best Actor - Musical or Comedy

I went into Topps to buy my weekly ration of rye and noticed there was as many bottles on the shelf as the last time I was in, minus one. The cashier mentioned 'Old Overholt...'.
'Yeah, not many people buying that these days. I must be the only one.'
'Well, I think there is another guy. But he doesn't come in here as often as...'
'Yeah, I know. Not too much demand, nowadays'.

On a different note, I'm such a fanboy.
I'm a big 'Neon Genesis Evangelion' fan. I bought the 8 dvd Perfect Edition [amazon.com] and it's like crack to me. If I pop one of the dvds in, I have to watch them all. All 8 dvds, all 26 episodes. This can take some time, let me tell you.
Then, they released 2 dvds as a retelling of the ending, Death and Rebirth [amazon.com] and The End of Evangelion [amazon.com]. I bought those too.
So, over the weekend, I read in the latest NewType-USA magazine that there is yet another release of the last 6 episodes. So, I had to buy the first one. From what I can find, the second one isn't out until March or something.
Can't they just sell me crack?

Something is really beginning to tick me off.
Apostrophes.
After viewing this [angryflower.com], it has come to my attention that he is completly right. Bad spelling I can handle, I'm a horrible speller myself. Bad grammer, I mostly don't even notice, but there are very simple and finite rules for using an apostrophe that any semi-conscious monkey can learn and understand. Chances are, if you don't know if you are supposed to use an apostrophe, you aren't. If you don't know the rules for using them, just leave them out all together and let context do the work for you, as is recommended here [angryflower.com].
Mmkay?

So, I've started writing again. Short stories only, nothing fancy. No angst-ridden high-school poetry, and there are those who know my high-school poetry. Nothing that will ever see print, except after I'm dead, then it will sell billions of copies and be translated into every language known to man ( even sumerian ). I have actually had conversations about life with people outside of work, and this is a new experience for me lately. I've decided to try to vent all of my internal monologues into stories to try to get them out of my system. Depending on how bad you both are, they might get posted, but I doubt it.
Oh, and Casey, if you ever find this, you are a drama queen. Accept it and deal accordingly.

Does it make me a bad american to switch to the classical station [kbaq.org] about 2 minutes into the 'State of the Union' speech? I just needed to hear something I could respect.

I wish you could adore
The way you did before
Now you're living through another year
Oh, the light you were
Will soon become a blur
As you're living through another year
Oh, what a waste of time it is
To indulge inside of bliss
Getting ready for another year like this
Another year to lie
Another year goes by
You're not sick, so you can't heal
But I wonder do you feel
The need to cry: 'I'm out of here'
Oh, your goal is safe
But is it all you crave
As you're living through another year
Oh, what a waste of time it is
To indulge inside of bliss
Getting ready for another year like this
Another year to lie
Another year goes by
Is it me who cannot see
The face of mediocrity
I try to smile you see
Your lightness darkens me
Filter all of your emotions.
Fake you're never low
Or face the one you fear
You're living through another year
Another year to lie
Another year goes by
[ 'another year', k's choice ]
